Death Valley National Park

This was the first stop on our 2016 road trip to the Southwest.  We had hoped to hit the superbloom that occurred that year, but we must have been too late.  The warm temperatures, though, were a nice change from Seattle.  And the geology was way different than anything we'd seen before.

Random Scenes

  • We were bedded down for the night at our campsite, when some late arriving campers needed to set up camp in the next site over.  First there was the discussion about whether to camp under the trees ... no, that's where the snakes are!  Then there was the highly comical exercise of trying to stuff 2 full-size, fully inflated air beds into a small 4 man tent through the tiny door.  Despite the half-hour of bright headlights and noise, all we could do was laugh.

"Oh Wow!" Moments

  • Evening light at Zabriskie Point!  Just magical shapes, colors, lighting and shadows!
